To meet Internal Revenue Service disclosure rules for charities, the Greater Houston Community Foundation, a 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization under IRS Rules, has exclusive control over the contributed assets, and certifies that no goods or services were provided to you. Once initial grants to impacted employees are fulfilled, the Foundation may: reserve excess assets to support impacted employees of future disasters, allocate the excess assets to other charitable organizations providing disaster relief in affected areas, or, under certain circumstances, allocate the excess assets to the Foundation’s general fund for disaster relief.
