Imelda Assistance Fund

About The Fund

Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner and Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo have established the Imelda Assistance Fund to meet the needs of those who have suffered damage during Tropical Storm Imelda and the flooding that followed.

The Imelda Assistance Fund will disperse grant money to nonprofit organizations that provide services to individuals. The Imelda Assistance Fund does not give money directly to Imelda flood victims.

The effort between Mayor Turner and Judge Hidalgo is in cooperation with the Greater Houston Community Foundation (GHCF), an organization with deep knowledge of the community and expertise in disaster relief charitable work. GHCF administered the Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund (HHRF) on behalf of the City of Houston and Harris County after Hurricane Harvey struck the region in August 2017.

The Imelda Assistance Fund Advisory Committee is co-chaired by Winell Herron, H-E-B Group VP of Public Affairs, Diversity & Environmental Affairs, and Lindsay Munoz, Greater Houston Partnership Director of Public Policy.

The nonprofit and philanthropic community has partnered together on a survey to assess the needs of those affected by Tropical Storm Imelda. One thing that we certainly learned from Harvey is that information collected at the early stages of a disaster goes a long way to inform, strengthen, coordinate response and recovery efforts. If you or anyone you know has been affected directly by the storm, we encourage you to fill out the needs assessment survey at
