GHCF with YPC Hosted First Regional Youth Philanthropy Connect Conference
The Greater Houston Community Foundation (GHCF) partnered with Youth Philanthropy Connect (YPC) to host the first Regional Youth Philanthropy Connect Conference: Youth Philanthropy on the Road! at the JW Marriott Houston Downtown.
“We were thrilled to present this important event and multigenerational dialog,” shared Steve Maislin, President of Greater Houston Community Foundation. “One of the most powerful services we offer is the unique educational opportunities we provide our donors, their children and the community.”
This is an important and very relevant topic as our donors work to share their generosity and commitment to philanthropy with their children and future generations. We are proud to partner with Youth Philanthropy Connect as we work to create impact across our community.”
The day-long, multi-generational conference provided families, including grandparents, parents and children, the opportunity to connect to other youth and families involved in philanthropy, all within the Southwest region. Throughout the day, participants will explored various models and effective practices in youth philanthropy, connected with colleagues and peers of other next generation boards, and took home new tools and knowledge to enhance their work. The conference also featured author Susan Crites Price, who gave her first talk since the launch of her latest book, Generous Genes: Raising Caring Kids in a Digital Age. The day-long program was geared towards families with children/grandchildren ages 6-21.
Maislin continued, “It is appropriate that Houston is the first city of the national tour. Ours is one of the most giving cities in the nation and world. The impact of this day will be felt for years to come.”
